Frequently Asked Questions

Isn't a lawyer going to do this for me?

Maybe. Generally, the lawyer requires half of their fee upfront before they tell you what documents to collect. You are still doing all the work. Furthermore, if you don’t have the right documents, you suffer the consequences. One missing document can cost hundreds of dollars in overnight courier fees alone.  Add in the additional hotel nights, meals, etc. and costs skyrocket.

Lawyers are licensed to practice by nation-states. Generally, the only licensed to practice in one. They usually have no idea how the law works in other countries and generally have very little incentive to learn.

What makes an independent consultant so special?

Because we have no vested interest in you choosing one country over another, we can give you unbiased answers to your questions. A lawyer in Argentina will only get paid if you decide to relocate to Argentina. A lawyer in Brazil will only get paid if you decide to relocate to Brazil.

I found a lawyer who studied in Xyyyzzz (Canada, Britain, USA, etc.)

Most lawyers have never relocated to a foreign country in their lives. While some of them may have studied abroad on exchange, an agency handled all of their documents. They’ve never gone through this, so they likely cannot relate to your concerns.  For example, while they might speak excellent English, they might not be speaking your language.

I'm retired, I can't afford to pay for every little thing!

If your economic situation is so strained that you cannot budget for service, you may wish to reconsider. Not only will you need to pay a lawyer much more money at the beginning to get the same services, but there is a very good chance that any mistake will cost you much more than the service. If you are relocating to a country where the cost of living is much less than your current country, he will also face an unconscious bias. The assumption is that if you are a foreigner relocating to their country, you have lots of money and you can afford an extra hundred dollars here and there.

This is a business move. Do you work with corporate clients?

Yes. Please contact us through the website if you require special care.

So what is your money back guarantee?

We guarantee that you will receive the products and services for which you contracted. Your documents will be reviewed. You will receive the individual consultations or access to the group sessions if you selected those. We cannot guarantee that your documents will be accepted by the destination country as we are not government agents responsible for immigration.  Most lawyers include the government fees in their fees and will refund only those in the event that the application is rejected.  We do not collect those fees in the first place.

My situation is special. You know someone who can fix it?

Our experience has been that anyone who offers to “fix” and irregularity is engaging in fraud. In some jurisdictions, your contracting with such an individual can reflect negatively on your application. Once your documents are reviewed, we can recommend strategies that you might suggest to your local representative for them to employ.

Immigration is a fairly straightforward process, but not every lawyer is a good lawyer.  You might want a ‘good friend’ on your side to help you through this.
